On this weeks show Damon pays tribute to actor Gene wilder who will fondly be remember for playing Willy Wonka in the 1971 film Willy Wokna and the Chocolate Factory. Gene sadly passed away last night ages 83. Also on the show we play songs from the same decade as the film – the 1970’s – Songs include, Eye Level, Close To You and many more!
On this weeks show we features the latest theatre organ instillation in the UK – The mighty Christie organ in Paul Kirners Music Palace, Ynyshir, Rhonda. This famous Christie organ was originally installed in the Regal Edmonton and was really made famous by Sidney Torch. This show features tracks with Paul kindly recorded especially for the show and is not what was heard on the opening concerts.
On this weeks show Damon plays music all written by American composer Leroy Anderson. Leroy was a well known composer of short, light concert pieces many of which work very well on the theatre organ. songs incude, Serenata, Forgotten Dreams, Syncopated Clock and many more!
On this weeks show Damon recall some off the air memories with tracks taken from 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s broadcasts. During this period the air waves were full of poplar broadcast featuring top organists and organs – for this show we present a few of those combinations. Artists include, Robin Richmond, Stanley Tudor, Bryan Rodwell and many more!
On this weeks show we venture to Suffolk and to the Cotton Mechanical Musical Museum. This 90 year old 2 manual Wurlitzer was originally installed in the Leicester Square Theatre, London So in celebration of this fact, we present to you Cotton’s resident organist David Ivory. Davids going to plays a ‘traditional’ programme which includes a selection of Gilbert & Sullivan tunes, the waltz- Village Children and many more!
